Conor McGregor has a scathing response to Justin Gaethje’s challenge to a blockbuster fight in Ireland.
Following Gaethje’s emphatic fifth-round technical knockout of Tony Ferguson last Saturday, he bared his plans for his next fights including a showdown with ‘The Notorious’ in his home soil.
“Khabib is the best in the world. I’ve been working since I was four for challenges like this. And I’m happy to represent the United States of America versus Dagestan or Russia’s best,” the newly-crowned interim lightweight champion said.
“He’s 28-0 and there’s no other challenge I want right now. I want to fight him. Then I’ll go to Ireland and do what I got to do.”
A unification bout with Nurmagomedov later this year is highly possible for Gaethje but ‘The Notorious’ wants him to forget about the undisputed champion and urges him to face the ‘real threat’ in the lightweight division.

‘You Are Dead’
Earlier this year, Gaethje has been campaigning for a money fight with McGregor after he finished Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 but the Irishman seems to have a different opponent in mind for his MMA return.
But after Gaethje’s UFC 249 victory, the former two-division champion said he wants him to be his next dance partner.
“The fans make the sport! Watching the other night, I was against going in without them. But it will be my f—ing pleasure to display the power I possess with zero background noise for them,” McGregor wrote in a series of tweets.
“It’s me and Justin next as Khabib is the biggest bottle fighter in the game. Guarantee it. Justin, there is no danger in a man that hugs legs, we all know. Try and dance around what the real threat is here all you want.”
“I am going to butcher you. Your teeth. I’m going to put them on a necklace. Speak on my skills as a father? You are dead.”

Not On Top Level
McGregor has also shared his thoughts about Ferguson’s performance, saying ‘El Cucuy’ is indeed a tough fighter but stressed that his level of game is not as great as what many people think.
“I love Tony. We represented him amazingly at Paradigm sports and were betrayed for a promise of a baseball contract. But frame and preparation here was just embarrassing,” Conor said.
“His methods and conversation are humorous/enjoyable but he was never the level perceived. Although tough.”
